I just spent the past five days being sick and stuck on my couch, and here are some things I learned:

1) After watching a “Keeping up with the Kardashian’s” marathon, I realized I have more in common with Kim, Kourtney and Khloe than I had thought. They’re crazy and obsessed with how they look, just like me. Kidd Kardashian?

2) The lady on QVC between 7p-10p wears way too much self tanner.

3) The Food Network never shows the mess you have to clean up after making your “10 Minute Meals.” Add an additional 20 minutes.

4) My24 should be called “The Two and Half Men Network” featuring “That 70’s Show.”

5) I finally found something more dramatic than me, figure skating.

It’s amazing the things you learn while stuck on the couch for five days with a box of Kleenex, hot tea, and a remote control.

I love seeing runway pictures from fashion shows because I am always shocked that these people have jobs. WHO would EVER wear something like this? If being a “fashion designer” means grabbing a white sheet and cutting holes in it, sign me up.

Here are some general ways to know you might have crossed the line from healthy sexual interest to sexual addiction or compulsion:

1. You lie

For Parker, the sex addiction counselor, this is the No. 1 way you know you’ve crossed the line: when you make up stories to get sex.

“If you lie with women to get them to have sex with you, you’re a predator and an addict,” he says.

2. Sex consumes you

If your interest in sex runs your life, you have a problem, says Robert Weiss, a social worker and founder of the Sexual Recovery Institute. He says addicts “are always preoccupied with hitting on someone, or picking someone up, or getting home to look at porn before their spouse comes home.”

3. You’re “divorced, dead, fired or arrested”

If you continue your sexual activities even under threat of being “divorced, dead, fired or arrested,” you’re an addict, Parker says.

“They ignore the consequences,” Weiss adds. “They say, ‘I could really screw up myself here, but I’m going to continue to do it.’ “

4. You have an intense interest in pornography

“The pornography piece of this cannot be overstated,” Parker says. “Show me a guy who’s having sex with three women in one week, and I promise you he has a relationship with pornography.”

5. You want to stop and you can’t

Sexual addiction is defined by a loss of control, Weiss says.

“I was totally out of control. I tried to stop and I couldn’t,” Rogers says.

tompettyandtheheartbreakerstompettyandheartbreakers
MILWAUKEE – February 25, 2010 – Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. officials are excited to announce the third performance slated for Summerfest 2010. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will headline the Marcus Amphitheater on June 25th at 8pm along with special guest ZZ Top.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, who saw their first U.S. single “Breakdown” become a surprise Top 40 hit, are returning to the Marcus Amphitheater. Hits like “Refugee,” “Free Fallin’” and “You Don’t Know How it Feels” give Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers an unparalleled multi-generational appeal.

This spring Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers will release their twelfth studio album, Mojo. Every online ticket to their Marcus Amphitheater show comes with a download of the entire album delivered on its spring release date, preceded by two advance tracks from Mojo (“First Flash Of Freedom” and “Good Enough”) delivered via email upon purchasing the ticket online. Fans who purchase tickets online and download Mojo will also receive a selection of live tracks recorded during Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ 2010 Tour at the end of the summer.

Petty & The Heartbreakers (lead guitarist Mike Campbell, keyboardist/pianist Benmont Tench, bassist Ron Blair, multi-instrumentalist Scott Thurston, and drummer Steve Ferrone) never departed from their signature rootsy sound, but they were able to expand it, bringing in psychedelic, Southern rock, and new wave influences. They were also one of the few of the traditionalist rock & rollers who embraced music videos, filming some of the most inventive and popular videos in music television history. His willingness to experiment with the boundaries of classic rock & roll helped Petty sustain his popularity. Petty’s latest release, “The Live Anthology” features the best live Heartbreakers tracks recorded during thirty years of tours as chosen by Tom Petty, Mike Campbell and Ryan Ulyate.

Opening for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers is ZZ Top. ZZ Top’s 40 year career has produced hits like “Tush,” “La Grange,” “Gimme All Your Loving,” “Legs” and “Sharp Dressed Man” to name a few. One of ZZ Top’s greatest strengths is their consistently high-standard live presentation and performances. One of rock’s maverick attractions, Gibbons, Hill and Beard have retained their eccentric, colorful image, dark glasses and Stetson hats, complete with an almost casual musical dexterity that has won over hardened cynics and carping critics.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 6th at 10am and will be available for $112.00 (Red), $92.00 (Yellow), $72.00 (bench) and $42.00 (lawn). All prices include Summerfest admission. Tickets can be purchased at the Marcus Amphitheater Box Office, Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, online at Ticketmaster.com and by phone at 1.800.745.3000 (live Ticketmaster Agent) or 1.800.448.7849 (“Ticketmaster Express” automated phone line). Patrons may also utilize “ticketfast” at Ticketmaster.com to print bar coded concert tickets from home. Convenience fees may be added to all purchases.

Summerfest 2010 will take place June 24 – July 4 from noon until midnight daily. The World’s Largest Music Festival and Milwaukee’s cornerstone summer celebration attracts the music industry’s hottest stars, emerging talent and local favorites. The Marcus Amphitheater and 10 additional stages, along with a diverse selection of food and beverage vendors, marketplaces and interactive exhibits, are set against the Lake Michigan and downtown backdrops, creating a festival experience like no other. Patrons can also enjoy Miller Lite, the Official Beer of Summerfest. For more details visit Summerfest.com
