Conan went out BIG last night trumping every other late night show with HUGE ratings for his final night on “The Tonight Show.”  Why is it that everyone loves you when you’re about to leave or gone?  Where was everyone for the last 7 months?  It just goes to show we all love DRAMA!  We always slow down to see the car accident on the other side of the highway because we must see the smashed up car.   Last night was the conclusion to a a great drama and it was “MUST SEE NBC” TV at it’s finest.  You can look at all the numbers here.

If you missed the farewell or want to see it again check it out now here.

If the reports are true that Conan’s last show will be this Friday, that means Tom Hanks and Will Ferrell will be the last guests on Conan’s “Tonight Show.” Will Ferrell was also his first guest. Sad.

Very funny!   I don’t think NBC can get rid of Conan now, this is the most buzz the show has seen since it launched.

Conan is saying “NO” to NBC’s plan to shuffle “The Tonight Show” schedule.

Here is a portion of the open letter to the public from Conan O’Brien:

So it has come to this: I cannot express in words how much I enjoy hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is for me to consider losing it. My staff and I have worked unbelievably hard and we are very proud of our contribution to the legacy of The Tonight Show. But I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction. Some people will make the argument that with DVRs and the Internet a time slot doesn’t matter. But with the Tonight Show, I believe nothing could matter more.

There has been speculation about my going to another network but, to set the record straight, I currently have no other offer and honestly have no idea what happens next. My hope is that NBC and I can resolve this quickly so that my staff, crew, and I can do a show we can be proud of, for a company that values our work.
