Have you heard about Iron Cupcake yet?

Our Mix BFF, Sandy Ploy, helped create this monthly event — similar to Iron Chef — where you can come out and bake or try tasting cupcakes from a TON of Milwaukee-area bakers. (If you’ve ever wanted to be on Food Network, you’ll love this!)

The June event is happening at Discovery World on the 21st, and Sandy is looking for new bakers to enter. The theme is the “Eat Local Restaurant Challenge,” profiling some of Milwaukee’s great eats. So, if you’ve always seen something while out to dinner you’d like to make in cupcake form, here’s your chance!

Milwaukee’s Iron Cupcake Queen, Sandy Ploy was picked to go to New York City for Kelly Ripa’s “Cake off for a Cause” to help raise money for ovarian cancer research.

Now she needs your votes! Vote HERE for her “Fall For Me” cake. Each vote = $1 towards ovarian cancer research.

I forgot to mention that I met someone FAMOUS last night. I’m sure you have seen Michelle and her husband on the Food Network many times. She was one of the celebrity judges last night. SUPER COOL! She has three bakeries in Chicago and implied through funny facial expression that she wouldn’t be surprised if Milwaukee soon had a Cupcake Bakery.

My friend Sandy is the founder of Iron Cupcake Milwaukee, which is a cupcake baking competition held each month with a new theme. This months theme is BEER! Yes, Beer and Cupcakes! I have taken my Mom and Grandma to the events before and it is a blast for people of all ages. You buy a ticket ($2.00 of every ticket goes to charity) and get to taste up to 18 different unique cupcakes from the bakers in the competition. Every baker has to incorporate beer in some way into their presentation. IT’S FUN and I hope to see you there on Monday!

Food Network Cake Challenge Baker, Michelle Garcia, will be their celebrity judge.
