Allen Gregory is a new animated series (Sundays | FOX) that tells the story of one of the most pretentious 7-year-olds of our time.

When he looks in the mirror, Allen Gregory De Longpre, (Jonah Hill, “Superbad,” “Get Him to the Greek”) doesn’t see a child. He sees a young man who is intelligent, sophisticated, worldly, artistic and romantic – characteristics he inherited from his doting father, Richard (French Stewart, “Private Practice,” “3rd Rock from the Sun”). The pair share an extraordinary father-son bond – a bond that is sometimes annoyingly interrupted by Richard’s life partner, JEREMY (Nat Faxon, The Cleveland Show, “Reno 911!”), for whom Allen Gregory has minimal respect, if any at all. They live together in a stunning architectural loft, along with JULIE (Joy Osmanski, “Grey’s Anatomy”), Allen Gregory’s adopted Cambodian sister.

According to a recent poll, the average woman spends close to $800 after a breakup…no, not on Ben & Jerry’s and white wine, but on making over her appearance!

The survey found that many women deal with the painful end of a relationship by indulging in retail therapy, with shopping for a fresh wardrobe, splurging on a new hairstyle and signing up for a gym membership among the most common image-improving purchases.

Experts say that women often feel self conscious about their looks after a breakup, and a makeover can be a great way to lift their spirits- and their confidence.

–$144 on a new hairdo.
 
–$62 on tanning.
 
–$192 on new clothes.
 
–$96 on new shoes.
 
–$76 on new make-up.
 
–$81 on manicures and pedicures.
 
–And $128 on a gym membership, boot camp, and other attempts to get into shape.
  
–On top of that, the average woman also spends $109 a week going out once they’re single.  And 11% immediately buy an online dating membership.

Maybe “love don’t cost a thing”…but sex does!

The good news is you can probably afford it.  According to social psychology research, the price of sex- what a person has to do to get someone to sleep with them- is at an all-time low! 

A survey found that more than a quarter of women will jump in the sack with a man they’ve been dating for a week or less.  And while the price of sex is determined by things like how many cocktails or restaurant meals a man has to buy before bedding a woman, 30% of young men these days are getting the goods without having to do any romancing at all! 

The unpleasant side effect of this trend is that men are less likely than ever to commit…after all, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?
